Course Description:
This course prepares the student to pass the Federal Aviation
Administration's Inspection Authorization examination. The course consists of an in-depth
review of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Regulations, FAA Orders, Advisory
Circulars, and Airworthiness Directives, and use of FAA required inspection data.

A $250 deposit is required to reserve a
seat in class. The deposit will be applied to the cost of your tuition
on your first day. The $250 deposit is non-refundable if you fail to show for
your scheduled class. But this deposit may be applied to a later class date if
proper notice of cancellation or rescheduling is afforded to the AvTech Exams
scheduler.
Deposits are payable to AvTech Exams by
regularly excepted payment methods. Visa, MC, Company Check, Travelers Checks.
Getting authorization to test
Students must go to your local FAA Flight Standards District
Office and fill out an application (FAA Form 8610-1) to take the IA exam. Once you have
obtained this form, signed by the FAA, you are eligible to take the IA exam at AvTechs
testing center. It will be to your advantage to attend our 3-day IA test refresher course.
Our current pass rate for the IA course is about +80%. The test fee is $80.00. The IA course is
self-paced (4 day average) and instruction is one-on-one.
FAA I.A. Minimum Requirements
To be eligible for an inspection authorization, an applicant must meet
the following requirements in accordance with FAR 65.91
Hold a current effective mechanic certificate with both A&P ratings.
Which has been effective for a total of 3 years.
Have been actively engaged, for at least the 2 year period before the
date of application, in maintaining aircraft certified and maintained IAW FAR 65.
Have a fixed base of operations
Have available equipment, facilities, and Inspection data (see
below), necessary to properly inspect after major repair and major alteration.
Pass the I.A. written examination.
