The Story Behind AvTech Exams
Every company has a history. Ours is rooted in military service, family, and a commitment to helping aviation maintenance professionals achieve their FAA certifications. This is the story of Kenneth Hershenson, the mission that inspired AvTech Exams, and the legacy that continues today.
Kenneth Hershenson
Kenneth Hershenson was a U.S. Air Force veteran who served for more than 20 years, where he developed the technical expertise, discipline, and passion for aviation that would define his life’s work.
After transitioning from military service, Kenneth recognized a challenge that many veterans and experienced aviation mechanics faced—turning years of hands-on experience into FAA certification and civilian career opportunities.
Together with his wife, Carol, he founded AvTech Exams with a simple mission: to help aspiring aviation maintenance professionals turn their experience into FAA certification and successful careers.
What began as a small family business grew into one of the nation’s premier aviation maintenance prep programs.
Through his dedication, mentorship, and commitment to excellence, Kenneth helped thousands of students achieve their FAA certifications and build successful careers in aviation.
Carrying the Legacy Forward
In 2019, I stepped away from my corporate career to join AvTech Exams full-time. The plan was for my father to gradually transition the business so he and my mom could enjoy retirement together after decades of building AvTech Exams.
Sadly, those plans changed when my father passed away in 2022.
In one of our final conversations, I told my dad not to worry, that I would keep AvTech Exams going. He simply replied, “I know you will.”
Those four words continue to guide me every day.
In 2024, I assumed ownership of AvTech Exams, carrying forward the mission my father began while preserving the legacy he worked so hard to build.
Today, I am honored to serve as General Manager and Owner of AvTech Exams. Every decision we make is guided by the values my father instilled—integrity, service, excellence, and a genuine commitment to helping every student succeed.
My hope is that every student who walks through our doors leaves not only with the knowledge to earn their FAA certification, but with the confidence to build a rewarding career in aviation.
